Annie Sinclair is a Trainee Solicitor in our Private Crime Department, based in the London office, while also working closely with the teams in Reading and Oxford. Annie is involved at all stages of criminal defence work, from initial police investigations to Magistrate Court and Crown Court.
Annie works alongside highly experienced litigators and nationally recognised legal professionals, gaining valuable insights from leading experts in the field. She plays a pivotal role in case preparation, assisting Solicitors, Partners, and instructed King’s Counsel on complex and serious cases. Her responsibilities include liaising with the Police, Crown Prosecution Service, and the Court, taking instructions from clients and witnesses, drafting legal documents, preparing briefs for counsel, and assisting with court hearings, ensuring thorough preparation at every stage of the defence process.
Annie thrives in high-pressure situations and is known for her proactive, client-focused approach. Her proactive work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to client care have earned her glowing feedback from colleagues and clients alike. She is passionate about achieving the best outcomes for her clients and is known for her calm and reassuring nature, which helps clients navigate what can often be stressful and complex legal proceedings.
In addition to her casework, Annie is involved in the firm’s efforts to improve equality, diversity, and inclusion, having initiated discussions to bring Reeds Solicitors into a student reverse mentoring scheme with BPP University in 2025, aimed at enhancing EDI policies within the firm.
Academic Qualifications:
· Bachelor of Arts in English Literature – University of Manchester
· Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL) and LLM Master of Laws in Law and Legal Practice – BPP University
· Currently studying the SQE Preparation Course – Barbri
Recent and notable cases
R v J (2024) – Assault by Beating and Criminal Damage. The Crown offered no evidence in relation to the allegation of assault by beating. A basis of plea was offered and accepted for the criminal damage charge. Sentence dealt with by way of a fine following successful mitigation from instructed Counsel.
R v M (2024) – Acquitted of sexual assault following trial. The bench agreed with the Defence case that there were a number of inconsistencies which put significant doubts on the Crown’s case.
R v G (2024) – The Crown offered no evidence at trial for failing to provide a specimen of blood for analysis.
R v M (2024)– The Crown offered no evidence at trial for two allegations of the possession of indecent images.
R v C (2024) – The Crown offered no evidence leading up to trial for breach of non-molestation order.
R v S (2023) – No case to answer for a transgender client of good character accused of harassment of her neighbour (who was a police officer).
R v G (2023) – The Crown offered no evidence leading up to trial for drunk in charge of a motor vehicle.
R v A (2023) – Assisted in preparation for a sub-committee hearing which resulted in successfully reinstating our client’s taxi licence.
R v W (2024) – No further action taken just seven weeks after we were instructed, in relation to allegations of sexual assault against six-year-old daughter.
R v M (2024) – No further action taken in relation to an allegation of serious domestic violence and coercive and controlling behaviour.
R v B (2024) – No further action taken in relation to an allegation of stalking and harassment.
