Carla Bolt is a Complex Crime Caseworker based in our Oxford office. She has a Bachelor of Science with Honours and a BSc Hons in Criminology and Criminal Justice. In September 2025, Carla will be studying a Master’s Degree in law at the University of Law alongside her work at Reeds. With this, she aims to increase her knowledge of the law.
Prior to joining Reeds, Carla became part of the Police Now National Graduate Leadership Programme as a Police officer. She worked in a response team before becoming part of the neighbourhood policing team.
After her training, Carla worked in a Response team where she attended various incidents. She had her own case load, investigated incidents and interviewed people involved. She attended multiple crime scenes, investigating a range of crimes from burglary to drugs to attempted rape.
Carla also carried out searches and warrants. She received training for interviews, the processes of investigation methods including PACE and custody. Her training also involved forensic methods, exhibits and statements.
This experience helped her in her role at Reeds as she came with an understanding of case file layouts and witness statements. She is able to understand both sides of the legal process, so is always empathetic to client’s situation.
After leaving the police force, Carla was a Neighbourhood officer at a Social Housing company. There, she investigated breaches of tenancy, including tenancy fraud and anti-social behaviour, as well as taking tenancy enforcement action.
At Reeds, Carla works on many tasks, including case preparation, drafting statements, supporting solicitors within the complex crime team, and taking instructions from clients. She regularly reviews case files and has visited clients in prison.
Carla is skilled in listening to clients and showing empathy when they are facing difficult circumstances. She builds rapports with clients and remains calm under pressure. Her work is always extremely organised. Carla always puts clients first and ensures that she keeps them updated with any information or changes in their case.
