Emily Godsiff is an Associate Solicitor within the Family Law department and has over ten years of experience, having qualified in 2014. Emily is based at our Oxford office and exclusively represents parents and children within private law disputes, and those involving Local Authorities within pre-proceedings and care proceedings.

Emily conducts her own advocacy wherever possible to ensure her clients receive a seamless service. She represents individuals in the Family Proceedings Court, County Court, Family Drugs and Alcohol Court, and the High Court.

She offers practical and realistic advice and provides excellent care for her clients, working through technical legal problems pro-actively to achieve the best possible result. Emily prides herself on her forensic analysis of complex evidence and robust rebuttal of serious accusations. These include allegations of non-accidental injury, sexual offences, and neglect.

Emily has extensive experience acting for young parents who require representation which is both clear and supportive. She is regularly instructed to represent individuals who have additional needs and are represented by the Official Solicitor or supported care leavers.

Emily is a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel and has been recognised as having the necessary skills and experience to represent children as well as parents in care proceedings and private law disputes.

Having spent time defending clients in the criminal justice system both within the Court system and Police Station, she also has a unique insight into the relationship between criminal and family proceedings. Emily also works closely with Reeds’ criminal team to support clients where family and criminal issues need to be considered in tandem.
