Matthew Harbinson is a Senior Associate solicitor advocate based in our Gloucester office.  Prior to joining Reeds, Matthew worked at Allen Hoole Solicitors in a similar role, and brings with him a significant amount of advocacy experience to Reeds.

As a specialist trial advocate with an enviable reputation as such; Matthew represents clients in both the Crown Court and Magistrates Court.  He defends all types of criminal work, with a particular focus on assaults, burglary, robbery, affray and public order, theft, fraud, sexual offences and proceeds of crime.  As a Crown Court advocate, Matthew also has a strong appeal practise and has conducted proceedings arising from applications to appeal sentence and convictions before the Court of Appeal, as well as dealing with appeals against revocation of firearm and shotgun certificates.

Matthew recognises that one of the keys to success in criminal defence work is good preparation, and he takes great care to prepare his cases thoroughly to identify the weaknesses in the prosecution evidence. He explains evidence and procedure clearly and succinctly to his clients so that they understand their proceedings at each and every stage; and in Court, uses robust, and effective cross examination to challenge witness evidence and expose inconsistencies, ultimately ensuring that this client’s chances of success at trial are maximised to the best of his ability.

In accordance with the Solicitors’ Regulatory Transparency Rules for motoring offences we confirm that Matthew Harbinson charges Level B hourly rates.
