R v Patterson – Rape
Zoe represented Mr Patterson, who was charged with two counts of rape of a child under 13 years old. Mr Patterson pleaded guilty, facing a starting point of 8 years with a high likelihood of being found dangerous. The prosecution applied for a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, but this was successfully defended due to it not being served in time. R v Dancer – ABH case involving dementia
Zoe represented Mr Dancer whom was charged with ABH, he was found unfit to plead or stand trial due to suffering with dementia at the start of the case, after a long 8 months the prosecution offered no evidence. She collaborated closely with medical experts to provide detailed reports, highlighting the impact of dementia on the defendant’s behaviour. This was a highly distressing time for both the client and his family.
R v Stevens – Assault of an Emergency Worker
Zoe represented Mr Stevens who was charged with 3 counts of assaulting an emergency worker, at trial he was found not guilty to all three counts. Zoe focused on establishing the context and circumstances surrounding the incident. She collected witness statements and video evidence to show that the defendant’s actions were not premeditated but rather a reaction to a highly stressful situation.
R v Smith – GBH and Affray
We represented two brothers, TS and JS. TS faced charges of grievous bodily harm (GBH) and affray, while JS was charged solely with affray.
As the legal caseworker on this matter, I worked closely with counsel to prepare the defence, meticulously analysing the prosecution’s evidence and identifying key weaknesses in the case. This groundwork played a pivotal role in a successful half-time submission for JS, where the judge directed an acquittal mid-trial due to the prosecution’s failure to present a substantial case.
For TS, I assisted in developing a strong defence strategy and ensuring the effective presentation of evidence at trial. This resulted in a unanimous not guilty verdict by the jury and a formal acquittal on all charges.

I was impressed by [Zoe] from day one. Zoe was able to represent me with high standards and always a professional manner, she was always able to provide me with answers to difficult questions and to simplify things if I found certain processes difficult. I shall look forward to having her support in the near future.

In this very lengthy and overwhelming trial I have received nothing but support. Zoe has, without a doubt, been my lifeline. She has never shied away from telling me the truth, has answered everything single question that I bombarded her with. If I didn't understand something she'd break it down for me. She is, in my opinion an asset to your firm. I unfortunately didn't get to meet his barrister, but I know that she relayed messages back to Zoe to give to me. Tyreece spoke very highly of her and I simply cannot thank her enough for all she has done to defend him. I will be forever grateful for all the hard work, attention to detail, knowledge of the Law, understanding my feelings and just honestly being the best.

I would like to give my feedback in regards to how Reeds team, especially Zoe Dudley, Lindsey and Peter De Feu, dealt with me and my circumstances. I was made to feel cared for above and beyond 100%; there has been many tears (on my behalf obviously) and I was never made to feel as though I was imposing or my feelings didn’t matter. It’s been a long road to my case finally closing and with their support it made the horrible journey feel much more bearable. A HUGE thank you to you all.
