Senior Caseworker Vacancy – Oxford / Remote – Private Crime Department

Reeds Solicitors is a well-established and highly regarded legal practice, recognised for its commitment to excellence and high standards of client care. We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Caseworker to join our busy Private Crime department. This role offers the opportunity to manage your own caseload while working within a close-knit, supportive environment that values collaboration, professionalism, and shared expertise.

Roles and Responsibilities

The right candidate will be required to:

  • Assist fee earners throughout all stages of case preparation for a variety of cases from Regulatory matters through to Investigation and Crown Court matters;
  • Open and maintain new files on the internal case management system;
  • Administratively manage a case load of files under the supervision of the solicitors;
  • Assisting with diary management for fee earners;
  • Assist with booking appointments and conferences for fee earners;
  • Attend conferences with clients and Counsel where required;
  • Take client instructions, draft witness statements, and assist with the general progression of matters;
  • Ensure conflict checks are completed on every new file and when new documents are received;
  • Accurately time record for all work carried out on the case management system;
  • Ensuring standards of files are met in accordance with the Office Manual and Lexcel standards;
  • Provide the highest level of customer service;

Person Specification

  • Experience in criminal law proceedings is desirable;
  • Good communicator in both written and spoken English;
  • Good understanding of client care requirements;
  • Must be IT literate and be willing to learn;
  • Must be proactive in seeking to assist fee earners with managing and progressing files and apply a consistent attention to detail;
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills;
  • Good team work ethics;
  • The ability to work within a high pressure and workload environment;

Salary – Competitive depending on experience

Working Hours –Monday – Friday, 9:00am to 5.00pm, with one hour for lunch

Location – Oxford. Remote/Hybrid working available
