Recent and notable cases
This was a complex case requiring additional understanding and consideration of mental health law for a prisoner deemed very high risk, who at that point, had never been released into the community. Harriet went on secure the release of this client at the first Parole Hearing, arguing that their risks could be safely managed in the community.
Case of an IPP who had been recalled for further offences committed whilst unlawfully at large. He remained in custody for an extended period of time to serve a new sentence prior to appearing before the Parole Board again. Harriet represented this client at the hearing and was able to secure Parole on IPP licence.
This was a complex IPP Termination Application whereby termination, or suspension of supervision or licence variation was not supported. Harriet assisted with submitting detailed representations to the Parole Board and was able to secure Termination of IPP Licence against the professional’s recommendation.
