Megan Edwards is a Criminal defence Caseworker and Trainee Police Station Representative working in the Private Crime department based in London.

Megan currently works on Complex Magistrates’ and Crown court cases, facilitating conferences with clients to take instructions and prepare legal documents, preparing cases for trial, drafting statements and assisting the fee earner with their caseload.

Megan deals with cases at the early stages at the police station right up until trial. Megan regularly works with Counsel and assists with taking instructions from Client’s and preparing documents ahead of court hearings and trials, such as Brief to Counsels and proof of evidence.

On occasions, Megan will attend the police station to shadow a police station representative to gain experience to add to her portfolio. Megan will sit in interview with client’s assisting with the interview process, providing advice and assisting with the interview process. Megan is going to have completed her portfolio this year and hopefully qualify.

Megan currently assists clients with PNC record deletions. This is a service where clients can apply to have records removed from the police national computer. If you have been investigated by the police, you may wish to consider police record or PNC deletion. It may come as a shock to realise that the details of your arrest and any police investigation are kept on the Police National Computer (PNC), even after charges are dropped or a not guilty verdict is returned. It can be devastating to have a black mark against your name in these circumstances, especially when you have done nothing wrong. Megan will reach out to clients who have recently received an NFA (No further action) outcome at the police stations and organise their application process should they wish to proceed.

Prior to joining Reeds, Megan worked as a legal assistant in a criminal law firm based in Central London. During her time there Megan undertook a number of tasks including processing dictations, attending court to drop of legal documents, reviewing CCTV videos to exert client’s defence, managing fee earners diaries, booking conferences, reviewing cases and ensuring they are up to date, applying for Legal Aid on behalf of client’s that were entitled and a number of administrative tasks.

Megan Edwards is a kind and caring individual that will strive to provide the best possible service to clients that are facing legal difficulty. Megan takes pride in providing a high level of care and understanding to each case and client’s personal circumstances. Megan is extremely proactive and has a fine attention to detail so nothing will ever be missed when working on cases especially when clients are unsure of how the legal system works and have never been in a court or legal setting before. Megan ensures that she develops a good working relationship with clients, she will strive to make sure clients are comfortable and informed of the process from the offset so that all their needs are met.
