Sobiah Hussain is the Head of the Private Family Law Department at Reeds. She is a Senior Associate based in our Oxford office and takes instructions from clients nationally and internationally. Sobiah advises on all aspects of Family Law. She has particular expertise in dealing with divorce and matrimonial finance cases for high net-worth clients and in advising clients who require pre or post nuptial agreements and separating agreements for cohabiting parties.

Sobiah undertakes advocacy and advises clients on complex Private Law Children Act disputes between parents. This includes Child Arrangement Orders, dealing with relocation applications, change of name and parental alienation. She also advises grandparents on their rights regarding Child Arrangement Orders. She also has experience with domestic violence injunctions, including Non-Molestation Orders, Occupation Orders, and Forced Marriage Protection Orders. Sobiah has expertise in advising parties regarding Islamic divorce and works closely with local Sharia Councils to help with assisting parties in obtaining a religious divorce.

Prior to joining Reeds, Sobiah read Politics and International Relations at Oxford Brookes University. She went on to complete the Graduate Diploma in Law and her Legal Practice Course with the University of Law.

Sobiah completed her training contract with Reeds in Oxford 2016, and has since specialised in Family Law. Throughout her career she has been working at regional firms in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire and at a national firm before returning to Reeds as Head of the Private Family Law Department in October 2024.

Sobiah’s professionalism and expertise is evident throughout her cases, she is committed to providing clear and compassionate guidance. She is dedicated to achieving the best outcome for her clients, balancing legal strategy with a deep understanding of a client’s family dynamics. She is extremely organised and proactive, meaning that her cases are always handled with the utmost care.
