Reeds Solicitors are looking for a Caseworker to join our growing Complex Crime department. The role is based in our Bristol office with hybrid working available after a training period. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting Solicitors and Advocates in preparing cases ready for court.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist solicitors or legal representatives throughout all stages of case preparation.
- Administratively manage a case load of files under the supervision of the litigators including drafting letters or emails to clients, courts and third parties.
- Applying for legal aid, prior authority and making other arrangements with regards to funding of cases.
- Taking clients instructions, preparing statements, applications, written representations and other legal documents, downloading/uploading material to the CCDCS, assisting with diary management and ensuring Court Orders are complied with.
- Accurately time record for all work carried out on the case management system.
- Ensuring standards of files are met in accordance with the Office Manual and Lexcel standards.
- Provide the highest level of customer service.
- Undertake legal research and instruct experts when required.
- Any other duties as directed by the Team Leader, Deputy Team Leader, Clerk or a member of the Management Team.
Person Specification
- Experience in criminal law proceeding or working in a Solicitors office is desirable.
- Good communicator in both written and spoken English.
- Good understanding of client care requirements and a commitment to legal aid.
- Must be IT literate and be willing to learn.
- Must be proactive in seeking to assist fee earners and apply a consistent attention to detail.
- Excellent time management and organisation skills.
- Good team work ethics.
- Ideally have experience of handling own caseload of criminal, cases.
- It would be highly desirable but not essential to have a legal qualification or working towards a legal qualification such as CILEX.
Salary – £25,000.00
Working hours – 9:00am to 5.00pm, Monday – Friday
