Lottie Jones is a Paralegal in our Court of Protection department, based in our Cardiff office. She assists the solicitors in the Cardiff office with the day-to-day conduct of cases including liaising with clients, drafting court application papers, visiting clients, attending court hearings and drafting court papers.

Lottie graduated from Cardiff University in 2019 with an Upper Second Class Honours degree in Law and worked part-time as a care supervisor whilst studying for her degree. This enabled her to gain the skills required to effectively communicate with vulnerable clients and maximise their participation in proceedings.

Lottie has over five years of Court of Protection practice work. Prior to joining Reeds in 2021, Lottie worked as a Paralegal in a Court of Protection Finance team. Lottie has experience of making applications to the Court of Protection for individuals who lack capacity to manage their property and financial affairs and require deputies to manage their finances.

She has excellent communication skills and is regularly instructed by advocates from varying advocacy services to represent individuals in court applications relating to the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) framework. Lottie is experienced in managing her own caseload under the supervision of Solicitors within the team and has excellent time management skills which enables clients to achieve timely results.

Lottie has also built strong working relations with local authorities, health boards and NHS Foundation Trusts across the West County in addition to other professionals within the Court of Protection sphere. She also has experience of representing the Official Solicitor on behalf of protected parties which has provided her with the opportunity to gain the skills required to represent protected parties in complex and contentious proceedings.

Lottie’s empathetic approach has also enabled her to effectively communicate and support family members in Court of Protection proceedings, ensuring their concerns and views are addressed and considered within proceedings.

Lottie is proactive in her approach to work and always seeks to achieve the best outcomes for her clients in a timely manner.
